So far, no-one knows but him.

He claims to be doing their will and will base all his actions on whether or not they would be pleasing to the gods.

History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Halander was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
