When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Junk Dealer hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He got away from his former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He took after his father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting brigands, the young Tethren began to lead the lost caravan. After a long history of fighting, Tethren and his spouse have recently divorced.
