History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Vassago was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Great was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his mother was employed at, doing general labor. In his 17th year, his parents were killed by a illithids raid, leaving Great alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. When he grew older, he became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. He began work as a mercenary for hire. He would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Motivation: He possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal; and he wants revenge against illithids
