History: Born in the north to a Gardener, Heian learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Heian grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Heian. He has recently gotten a pet goose that steals things from people.

History: Bertram hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. In his youth he was part of a gang. He got caught, but did not rat out his comrades and served his time in prison. By chance he met his brother recently and the two have been together since.

Description: This western man dresses well, wearing white shirts, loose pants, and blazers most of the time. His clothes are grease stained in places. His golden hair is braided into rings. His eyes are a pleasant hazel.

Personality: Quiet and reserved he prefers to listen than to talk. He will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. He does not believe in violence as a means to an end. He is a dedicated Spice Merchant but believes his peers are too gung-ho.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the west. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Spice Merchant hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of his brother; and an old rival family wants him found

Description: This man is unhealthily muscled, almost every single one of his veins is visible when he is not flexing. His shirts and pants tend to be short and undersized for him due to the difficulty of finding a good tailor. He sports a flattop hair cut. His eyes are likewise gray. His teeth are yellowed and unaligned.

Personality: He tends to agree with only himself unless someone else's opinion sounds like he can profit from it. He tries to control his temper but he can't always stop himself from what he feels what must be done. He is a big fan of imagination and believes people should spend more time reading and writing.

History: He comes from a rich southern family. Through the years after Lucan was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Lucan's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: Money/treasure; and to share knowledge with the world
