History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Valafar was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.
