Personality: He is a melancholic, but persistent worker. He resents family life and as such spurns the advances of admirers. The war was a terrible time for him, and Bernard does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. His homeland was ravaged by war and he spent much of his life rebuilding it. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Motivation: He loathes his own lifestyle; and he is greedy

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. Sark abandoned his home at a very young age, living in the fields and plains. He survived everyday through hunting and stealing from passersby. He did whatever it took for him to survive. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature sword.

Personality: Here is a man who knows he is the smartest in the room. He talks down to others constantly. He misses his home and complains about the freezing weather, even in summer.

History: Cairn was raised in a hard working conservative environment. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Fortune-teller for the past few years.

Motivation: Further expansion of business; and balancing his hectic life and new fortune-teller responsibilities is difficult

Personality: He has a good heart but also a terrible temper. He will forgive often but not before yelling and berating someone for whatever they have done wrong. He is obsessed with a lost civilization.

History: Pallabar lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Pallabar was born on a far southern desert where he grew up under the tutelage of his father, an expert Spice Merchant. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: An old rival family wants him found.
