It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: His father raised him in a mountain cabin. When the war came and ruined his parents he was left adrift. He was a hard man then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. He has gone from town to town till he finds a spot where he can set up a sustainable business.

Personality: He dislikes all the random violence that takes place in the east. He has a minor phobia of water and hates getting wet.

History: He was born on a small isolated farm. In his 14th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his father impaled in their home, and his mother beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. Some 3 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Sapply never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his daughter whom he trained as his father had trained him before.
