He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Tiefling doctor. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

He became part of the deadliest team of assassins in recent memory. A botched job caused the group to be disbanded. He used his abilities to trick people and travel the world for free.

Motivation: Many illithids want him driven away; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

History: He was born in the east, but his parents moved at a very young age to the south. Cursed with unlife at a very young age, Efferil has worked very hard to control his curse. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.
