In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Simon alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: Born in the south to a Cartwright, Laucian learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
