His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He has worked as a Bowyer like his father before him.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it; and revenge

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Jeweler and was forced into it by his family; and his relatives are trying to arrange a marriage
