He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He's since become an addict/alcoholic.

Motivation: A deep hatred of illithids; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge

Personality: Paymon wants to be seen as a stoic, levelheaded, noble Commoner, so he tries to act the part. He does a good job, for the most part... His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Paymon is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

History: A powerful slaver made him what he is. Since his mother passed away years ago, his father had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. After a long history of fighting, Mamnen and his spouse have recently divorced.
