His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Emerald was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Eberdeb was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Commoner, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Commoner in service of a powerful lord somewhere. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.
