History: Born in the north to a Bookbinder, Hugh learned a great deal about his father's area of expertise. He always admired divine-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. He has never given up on his painting dream.

Personality: A grumpy guy he will invite people to lunch so he can critique them. Yet he still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. He takes great joy in being the best Gardener in town.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has achieved small success as a Gardener.
