He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. Being a Interpreter kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Nirgel was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north.
