History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the east. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a son. Some 9 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Bertram never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his father had trained him before.

Motivation: Halfling compassion; and a strong sense of loyalty to halfling people
