Personality: A grumpy guy he will invite people to lunch so he can critique them. Yet he still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. He uses his nature as a weapon; he likes to lead opponents to think him in distress.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Paelias was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Paelias's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He guards a vault combo very seriously as well as the key needed to open it.

His biggest love is that of knowledge and as such will purchase any books or pay to listen to tales that travelers might have.

History: His martial talent manifested at a young age. Aiming to upstage a rival house, his parents had him trained. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Howard was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A gifted student he started as a Carter, but he got bored and became a Scribe. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: Nothing but the best is good enough for him; and he doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes

Personality: While he is on the job, he is grim and serious. He understands how dangerous the world is and the need to stay safe. He will pursue extreme courses of action in the short term, confident that they cannot fail.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He used his abilities to trick people and travel the world for free.

Motivation: He has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day; and he feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help
