History: He was born into a rich family. His childhood dream was to be a Bounty Hunter, but he was a colossal failure. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.

He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Personality: He believes there is no problem he cannot solve with sufficient elbow grease and persistence, if it is the best or most economic solution matters not. A true patriot, Varis would do anything for his country. He is fiercely protective of his fellow citizens and foreign allies.

History: Varis was born with his father's beautiful face. He took after his father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting dire rats, the young Varis began to lead the lost caravan. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.
