History: The child of western immigrants he idolized his father. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Roland was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He was granted arcane powers by his dying sister.

Motivation: He is not mentally stable, and does not behave rationally; and he wants nothing more than to rejoin the army
