During his travels, Wiggan and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Wiggan discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Wiggan fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.
