History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his mother. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Hugh alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by drow. Hugh was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright.
