The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Conrad was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Conrad's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, Conrad and his spouse have recently divorced.
