History: Nelkin lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. By chance he met his brother recently and the two have been together since.

Personality: He is a pretentious jerk insisting that modern society is full of problems and should revert to a simpler time. He is however greedy and will demand payment and proof of collateral's value and will produce a merchant's scale to make sure he is not cheated out of a speck.

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. Through the years after Flame was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Flame's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Personality: He is calm most of the time but flees social interaction. He does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of dire rats may trigger it at times.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His parents were killed by dire rats in a raid when he was still a young child. The dire rats captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Gardain was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the dire rats.
