History: Vondal hails from a village terrorized by illithids. He married young, but lost his spouse to illithids. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He wants revenge against illithids; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it
