Outside of the suit he is bundled in multiple layers and is prepared for a desert trek wearing a turban that covers his face most of the time. His hair is greying and his face has many wrinkles. He has a dull look in his amber eyes.

Personality: He is irascible and easily irritated. He pushes his goals aggressively. He is also a coward if confronted.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Qualen grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Qualen. Being a Layabout kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

Motivation: Marry his sister to traveling adventurers; and his spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion
