He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Gnomish doctor. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to orcs demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and he wants revenge against orcs

Personality: He is a Knight first and foremost. He believes firmly that knowledge should be universal. He has a cruel streak; something he gained from his previous mentor. He harbors resentment against his former mentor.

History: A powerful wizard made him what he is. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has gone from town to town till he finds a spot where he can set up a sustainable business.
