He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. He was an adventurer many years ago and he formed a blood bond with his Gnomish companion (his 'brother'). After a long history of fighting, Umpen and his spouse have recently divorced.

His mother taught him the rudiments of the Actor arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He has never given up on his poetry dream.
