History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Bertram was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He inherited a moderately successful company from his mother. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Spice Merchant for hire.

History: He was born in the west, but his parents moved at a very young age to the north. Rolf was born on a far western plains where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Map Maker. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.
