History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He has dedicated himself to building a better world.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and a rival would like him out of the picture

History: Ulblyn hails from a village terrorized by illithids. His mother disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his mother, he was betrayed dozens of times. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his daughters to still be retired.
