Susannah was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the dire rats.

Dean was born on a far southern desert where he grew up under the tutelage of his father, an expert Bellfounder. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world.

She was an adventurer many years ago and she formed a blood bond with her Human companion (her 'brother'). Lacking all sense, she decided to go on an adventure. She picked a direction and started trekking.
