To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Jacoba. History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when giants swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: She was born on a small isolated farm. There was a wharf not far from home where she often wandered off to fish. She became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.

History: He was born into a rich family. At a young age he wooed the heart of his future spouse and the two had a long relationship before they wed. Some 9 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Aldous never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his daughter whom he trained as his father had trained him before.
