Personality: He resents people who mock his appearance or him, so he has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. He is however greedy and will demand payment and proof of collateral's value and will produce a merchant's scale to make sure he is not cheated out of a speck.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Fortune-teller hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. Now he works as a poetry tutor during his time off.

Personality: A deeply religious woman she believes everything happens for a reason. She disdains her fellow northerners, claiming they make her look unintelligent just for using an accent.

History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. Being born in the north, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She left for the north, certain she would find work there.

Motivation: To reunite with her absent father; and her spouse's relatives view her with great suspicion

Personality: A grumpy gal she will invite people to lunch so she can critique them. Yet she still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. She has a cruel streak; something she gained from her previous mentor. She harbors resentment against her former mentor.

History: She was born several months after her father was called into army service. She worked as a nervous Dilettante and found it very stressful. She's also a talented Crown-heir, but doesn't like to broadcast it.
