History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Dean was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a son. Some 6 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Dean never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his mother had trained him before.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. He moved out north to avoid the crime he committed. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day

Personality: Percival hangs on like a leech to those who appreciate him. It was this clingy personality that held back his writing career. Percival is a bit of a follower. Usually he is manipulated by his sisters into helping them out, but recently he has become more of a free agent.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious western family, he was no stranger to responsibility. He was an apprentice working in his mother's forge. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
