His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. Being a Laborer kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

She has drifted apart from her friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature hand crossbow.
