History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. He dropped out of school to support his sick father, and resented it. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by orcs, and he desires to right it; and marry his sister to traveling adventurers

History: Gerald was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Paladin, to bring honor to his family’s name. He found a children's book about a Human Paladin who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero.
