It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Manfred was raised in a hard working conservative environment. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Humans in Manfred's homeland. Manfred decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Ruler for the past few years.

Motivation: He'd like to take his coworkers down a peg.

Personality: Dean is depressed about a lot of things. He tends to be a nihilist. He loves teas. He is very sensitive about his face. To blow off anger he lifts weights and to control his otherwise explosive temper he works out a lot.

History: His mother raised him in a mountain cabin. Dean liked to wander the woods near his home when he was young, something he still likes to do at least once a week. He never liked modest clothing or shoes, so he would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and he developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. He now mingles about in high society.

History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. She has since lost track of the people in her past.
