Description: A middle-aged woman, she sports grey clothing, slightly heavier than average wear, and is pretty ugly. Her chestnut hair has been sun bleached extensively. She is missing an eye and her face is severely sunburned. Her one remaining eye shines gray.

Personality: A grumpy gal she will invite people to lunch so she can critique them. Yet she still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. The war was a terrible time for her, and Joan does not often speak of it. When she does, she does so with a strained expression and tears in her eyes.
