It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Description: He is an exceptionally muscular looking southern young adult. He wears a shirt and pants that are bristling with pockets overflowing with maps, compasses, and other navigational equipment. Beneath his clothing is a huge mess of scar tissue. His hair is long and chestnut with streaks of auburn, and is pulled back with small black clips. His beard is auburn, braided, and well cared for. His amber eyes dart from person to person.

Personality: Soft-spoken and well mannered, he has an amazing amount of patience and a slow boiling temper. He is cautious and jumpy. He reacts to every sound and lacks any concept of subtlety.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Godfrey was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. In his 20th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his father impaled in their home, and his mother beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Personality: Quiet and reserved she prefers to listen than to talk. She will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. She is always in debt, since she spends her money on lavish parties and gifts for friends

History: Matilda was born into a poor family. Growing up, she dreamt of becoming a Paladin, to bring honor to her family’s name. When she came of age, she applied for a position with her town's local guard, looking to work her way up via merit and eventually become a Paladin in service of a powerful lord somewhere. Matilda abandoned her home at a very young age, living in the fields and plains. She survived everyday through hunting and stealing from passersby. She did whatever it took for her to survive. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Personality: He is highly sensitive about his name. He loathes it, but will not take any guff about it from anyone. He is terrible with names forgetting people's names several times before they finally stick; this causes him no end of embarrassment.

History: A child with a great deal of writing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. When he was little, his rather wealthy family often ventured across the desert to a summer home near a ruined castle. He would wander through that ruined castle and adventure through it for days. One day while adventuring a terrible storm took place and he was stranded inside. His family spent the next few days looking for him, and could only assume he was dead when it came time to leave. The family never returned to the desert due to the painful memories there. Theobald took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up shortbow and armor he uses now. He has never given up on his writing dream.
