History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His parents were killed by giants in a raid when he was still a young child. Motivation: He wants revenge against illithids; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it

Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm father. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.

Motivation: She made a deal with a demon which lead to her current lot in life, and she's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and she is currently in port desperately looking for someone to get her out
