History: She was born into a rich family. In her 13th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Joan alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: A deep hatred of dire rats.

History: Born in a small village she learned the ways of the warrior from her mother. She sought a place where she would be rewarded solely on the merits of her skills. This search led her directly into Ruler work with an outfit from a few towns over. Ruler work suited her well, and with each successful project, she earned more gold and more respect from her peers. She has never given up on her poetry dream.
