History: Dean hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Dean was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the dire rats.

Personality: Cocky and sure of herself, she believes she is the best Scribe born in the past three hundred years. She does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of goblins may trigger it at times.

History: Her father raised her in a mountain cabin. Her spouse left her for another, whom she beat to an almost bloody pulp. She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: Balancing her hectic life and new Scribe responsibilities is difficult; and she wants revenge against goblins

Personality: He is erratic and paranoid. He believes dire rats are coming to abduct people. He seeks to pay back kindness whenever he gets the chance. Whether it be in the form of unwanted serenades or the latest gossip he always seeks to do solids for his friends.

History: He is the product a well kept family trust fund and as such has never really known need. In his 19th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it; and he is terrified, and will act out of fear
