Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Joan grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Joan. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.

Recently a tribe of goblins attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Bather. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

Personality: Quiet and reserved she prefers to listen than to talk. She will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. She is a bit of a macho woman and will challenge people to random contests of strength and skill, and invite them to random hunting and fishing trip.

History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. She was a friend to animals and a trickster. In her defense of animals however she would do severe harm to people. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.
