History: Raised by wardens she was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. Sarah was born on a far southern plains where she grew up under the tutelage of her mother, an expert Carter. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Before the accident, he was one of the most outspoken anti-Human activists. He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Human doctor. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
