History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when orcs swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Gilbert was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the orcs.
