When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Hunter hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. He always admired divine-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. Recently a tribe of giants attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Bertram fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
