Personality: He resents people who mock his appearance or him, so he has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. His job bores him to no end. He has decided to make it more interesting.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Bertram grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Bertram. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Personality: Aggressive, abrasive, and angry, Sybil embodies much of what other species detest in the Humans. She is obsessed with her god.

History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. In her 16th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Sybil alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: She has money and likes to spend it.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the east. In his formative years he discovered how persuasive he was. He began using that to his advantage selling useless wares at inflated prices. He used his abilities to travel the world and help people.

Motivation: He wants revenge against dire rats; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it

Personality: She is curt in most of her responses. She prefers to keep her word usage to a minimum to avoid giving away unnecessary information. She works hard and plays hard.

History: Trained by her father for as long as she can remember she had it drilled in her head that it was her duty to serve her country. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She now owns her own business.
