History: She comes from a rich western family. She has chosen to use the inheritance that was left to her frivolously. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He is obsessed with a lost civilization.

History: Thomas hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. At a young age his father died while driving off some dire rats. His mother being the stubborn sort decided to stay and helped train him in ceremonial dagger use. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.
