History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Tanner hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: A strong sense of loyalty to Human people; and her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and she desires to right it

At some point she was captured by illithids and was tortured. After several years of this she finally managed to escape. She was granted divine powers by her dying brother.

Motivation: She is currently in port desperately looking for someone to get her out.

History: He was born in the south, but his parents moved at a very young age to the east. He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Humans in the south were limited. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
