The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his father's willingness to do anything to win. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: He's in love; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it
