History: A powerful brothel owner made her what she is. In her 10th year, her parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Joan alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. After a long history of fighting, Joan and her spouse have recently divorced.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and she desires to right it; and someone believes her a fraud

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. His childhood dream was to be a Masseuse, but he was a colossal failure. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
