Rosalind's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She got away from her former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
